This week Paul James was advised that he was the recipient of a special edition of a Certificate of Merit, to commemorate the 125th Anniversary of the formation of the Royal Life Saving Society. This award was granted by RLSS President, HRH Prince Michael of Kent GCVO.
In celebration of the 125th Anniversary, 125 individuals across the entire Commonwealth have been honoured with the award, 27 of whom are Australians. The award recognises distinguished service to the RLSS.
The recipients of this special award are individuals whose voluntary contribution and achievements have significantly impacted on the Society and its work, and have represented the Society in an exemplary way. Contributions in particular, are in the fields of sport, youth and drowning prevention.
In October 2016, Paul will be travelling to Canberra to Government House for a reception to be hosted by His Excellency General The Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd) and Her Excellency Lady Cosgrove. A small conference will be held in the morning, followed by the RLSSA AGM. The function, held in the early evening will be followed by a dinner buy cipla diazepam party at Government House (might be a bit more sophisticated than Sundowners Paul and probably no thongs!).
Following this, in November 2016, Paul has been invited to an evening Reception at Buckingham Palace, London. This event is to mark the 125th Anniversary of the Society. Separate to this Reception he will attend a presentation at which HRH Prince Michael of Kent GCVO will award him with his 125th Anniversary Certificate of Merit.
As you will all know, Paul is a very giving and under-stated person, who is humble and always the first one to praise others. He has asked that the following be passed on to the Hampton Life Saving Club Membership:
“A large part of my contribution to RLSS has, no doubt, been through my involvement in Hampton LSC and I wanted to thank and acknowledge all of those involved at Hampton for the support and camaraderie over my 40 years of involvement.”
Congratulations Paul. Hampton Life Saving Club is honoured and very fortunate to have you as a member and a leader in so many different areas of Club life.
