From Wednesday 5 October 2016 we are welcoming new membership enquiries. Our nippers program is very popular and whilst we do our best to offer as many places as possible, we do have some environmental restrictions as to maximum numbers of nippers, particularly to the younger age groups.
If you wish your child(ren) to start the nippers program in November 2016, please email email@example.com with:
- The birthdates of your child(ren) you wish to enrol
Enrolments will beon a first come first served basis. Once your childs place has been confirmed, you will be invited to complete the Membership process via the SLSA Gateway.
And parents, there many opportunities for you to get involved too!
At Hampton Life Saving Club we have many activities happening all year long, not just patrolling the beach over summer, or running the very popular Nipper’s program (ages 5-13).
We encourage our Nippers to participate in inter-club carnivals, should they have a competitive bone or two in their body. We run a Youth program for 13-17 year olds. We run activities for our adult members – including providing a gymnasium and fitness training and for those that like to socialise, there’s our weekly Sundowners, Family BBQ’s, and other social events held down at the club.
Below is a brief summary of our main activities at the Hampton Life Saving Club.
Patrolling is the Hampton Life Saving Club’s main activity and it is a fantastic way to spend your weekends. We don’t require that you patrol every day. At most, patrol members are required to patrol maybe 4-5 times between November, and Easter Monday. As you can imagine, only 6 or 7 days is not a lot to give up over the span of 4-5 months.
Once you start patrolling, you’re able to gain different awards, which will allow you to do different things, such as operate our Inflatable Rescue Boats (IRB’s) or our Radio’s. You can also compete at Inter-club Carnivals which are held throughout the season.
If you want to know about Patrol you can contact our Director, Life Saving.
We all want to make sure our children are safe at the beach while they’re in the water. Our training here at Hampton helps them get familiar with the beach environment and to have fun while doing it.
Ages range from 5 to 13 years old, and the program is run on a Saturday afternoon, consisting of a lot of teamwork skills, as well as interaction and familiarisation of our surrounding environment. We run activities such as sprints, relays, beach flags, as well as Water Activities including swims and board paddling.
Children are also encouraged to participate in the inter-club carnivals which are run around the state throughout the season.
If you want to know more about Nippers you can contact our Director, Junior Activities.
Competing is all a lot of fun, but for some people, it can be serious business – look at the Nutrigrain Ironman competition! We may not all be Ironmen or Ironwomen, but Hampton competitors perform strongly at all the Carnivals we enter. As a Top 10 club in Victoria, we pride ourselves on competing strongly but also in a far and collaberative manner.
Carnivals are held around the state, and for the most part, run for the entire day. Nipper carnivals are for ages 5-13, with Senior Carnivals for ages 14 and over. For our patrolling members there are also Club Competitions involving Lifesaving Skills, an Iron event and IRB Competitions.
If you want to know more about competing you can contact our Director, Sports.
After all that time spent on training, patrolling and competing down at Hampton, who has time for a social gathering? WE DO!!! Our social events are a great way to unwind and relax after a long hard day’s work, or if you just feel like coming down for the social event, well that’s great too! We have events for every age group, such as Family BBQ’s, Sundowners, and Youth Gatherings.
Dates for events are located on our calendar. Make sure you’ve cleared your diary so that you can come down and support YOUR Lifesaving Club!
If you would like to help organise a social event our Director, Member Services would love to hear from you.
