Welcome to the Junior Activities Program where we deliver and manage a number of SLSA approved programs and activities aimed at educating, developing and retaining youth in lifesaving.
Nippers – this follows the SLSA Surf Education Curriculum for educating children aged 5 to 13 years old in a safe and fun environment. The program at Hampton operates every Saturday afternoon in the summer for registered children.
Starfish Nippers – is a specially adapted version of our Program for children with special needs including disabilities such as Autism, Asperger’s and Down Syndrome. We operate Starfish during regular Nippers program times to ensure that families are part of the overall Nippers Program experience.
YIPS – our youth involvement program for 14-17 year olds, is focused on providing a platform for teenagers to further develop their lifesaving skills whilst having fun.
Leadership Development camps are an important part of developing and retaining youth into future leaders in lifesaving, each year Hampton sends a delegation to specific LSV run camps –
- LSV U13 Camp – a leadership development camp for selected children in our Under 13 Age Group
- LSV U15 Camp – a leadership development camp for selected children in our Under 14 Age Group
- Champion Junior Lifesaver – where one boy and one girl from HLSC compete for State honours in a one day special event at Lifesaving Victoria
