All club members who hold SLSA awards must undergo annual skills assessment to requalify by 31 December each year.
The annual skills assessment requirement is necessary to:
- Ensure the ongoing competency of all of our lifesaving personnel in their area of training and activities
- Maintain the standards of knowledge and expertise of club lifesaving personnel
- Satisfy legal and statutory requirements
- To reinforce and maintain the professionalism of our lifesaving service and commitment to the community.
When completing a new award after 30 June in a particular year the award remains current until 31 December in the following season. Therefore if you gained your award after 1 July 2016 or are upgrading your Surf Rescue Certificate to a Bronze Medallion this season you DO NOT need to sit skills assessment, as your award is current until next season.
Any member who did not successfully complete appropriate skills maintenance assessment in the previous season is not permitted to patrol or compete until such time as they are deemed competent in a skills maintenance assessment.
Important Note: You MUST be a financial member to sit skills assessment or you are not covered by insurance. If you are over 18 years of age you MUST also have a current Working With Children Check (WWCC) registered to HLSC and LSV.
Refresher Training – is scheduled for:
Wednesday 23rd of November, 2016. The session will run from 7pm to 9pm at the club rooms.
Skills Assessment Day – is scheduled for:
Sunday 27th of November 2016 from 10am at the club rooms. You MUST ensure that you have completed the Online Skills Maintenance Theory Exam prior to this date. There are separate theory exams for each award you hold – SRC, BM, IRBC and IRBD, so please complete all that are relevant and ensure that you print your completion certificates for each award and bring it with you to the Skills Assessment Day.
