Surfboat ‘Betty’s Maiden Voyage!

In glorious sunshimage2ine, the intrepid crew took Betty out on her maiden voyage on Sunday 22 January 2017.  After much hilarity trying to get into the boat without tipping it over, the tallest sweep ever (Phil Mawkes) navigated a path through the comp squad nippers and out into clear water.

Betty looked magnificent in her HLSC colours and the crew did her proud in front of a packed Hampton beach.  Well done all!image1

Cancelled: Nippers & SRC – 7 Jan 2017

HLSC has cancelled all training today.

Nippers CancelledThis is due to two factors: the very high temperatures that are forecast, and the unknown water quality. The temperature is forecast to exceed 35C this afternoon. Additionally, whilst the water quality is shown as good for Hampton on the EPA website this is an estimate only. Measurements on
either side of Hampton currently show poor water quality.

Nippers will run as normal next week.

HLSC welcomes Betty the Surf Boat

On Saturday, HLSC welcomed Betty, our first surf boat. Betty has been named after life member and former President Betty Macaulay, who helped welcome Betty at her christening. It was a fantastic day, with demonstrations by our nippers and younger members in March Past, R&R, Belt & Reel, Flags and IRB Rescue. The IRB even managed to rescue Santa who came to the beach for Christmas Nippers celebrations. For more pictures, see the Christmas Edition of the HLSC newsletter.
